Longtime PAWS President Sue DiMeo stepping down

At the PAWS end-of-the-year volunteer party, Board members for 2026 were announced and recognized.

The most notable change was the retirement of President Sue DiMeo after 23 years of service.

She is passing the torch to longtime volunteer Robin Gorfine.

Sue was honored with a citation from Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, which praised her dedication and hard work for PAWS over the years.

The citation noted that Sue had “transformed the organization into a statewide leader in animal welfare …  leading hundreds of dedicated volunteers with compassion and vision.”

We thank Sue for all that she’s done for PAWS Wakefield and wish her all the best in her retirement. And we thank the returning board members as well as the new volunteers stepping up to do this important work.
