PAWS receives $1K grant from Mass. Animal Coalition
Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society, Inc., a nonprofit organization that rescues, fosters, re-homes and facilitates adoptions for cats in the greater Boston area, has received a $1,000 grant from the Massachusetts Animal Coalition (MAC) 2025 Pet Plate Grant program.
The grant will be used to fund spay and neuter surgeries for cats under the care of PAWS. MAC’s Pet Plate grant program (formerly known as the “I’m Animal Friendly” License Plate Program) has raised $3.3 million to assist worthy pet organizations throughout Massachusetts.

A fee for these special license plates provides revenue to run the program, and grants are awarded to groups that demonstrate a need for funding spay/neuter services.

“I’m Animal Friendly” license plates are available through the Massachusetts RMV and are tax deductible. For additional information, visit www.petplate.org.
“MAC Pet Plate grants make a meaningful impact by helping PAWS Wakefield and other local rescue organizations manage the ever-increasing costs of spay/neuter surgeries for homeless pets,” said PAWS President Sue DiMeo.
“Every time you spot a car with a MAC Pet Plate, you're seeing more than just a pet lover — you're seeing someone who’s actively supporting our mission to care for and rehome homeless cats and dogs as they wait for the loving families they deserve.”
Massachusetts Animal Coalition (www.massanimalcoalition.org) is a statewide, nonprofit organization that includes animal welfare professionals and individual volunteers dedicated to working together to decrease the number of homeless, neglected and displaced animals in Massachusetts.
